Committees defined in the United Academics AAUP/AFT Constitution and By-Laws are:

Collective Bargaining (Negotiating Team) appointed by the Executive Board, which functions as specified in the By-laws.
Communications

The Communications Committee shall:

Design, produce and distribute a regular printed communication to the membership, a regular bulletin for officers, members of the Representative Assembly, and committee chairs, and other printed material for the organization as necessary. Present the views of the organization on both a regular and special basis to the print and electronic media, other labor and community organizations, and the general public.

Legislative Relations
The Legislative Relations Committee shall:

Be responsible for monitoring government actions that may affect the membership and develop appropriate responses to such action in cooperation with affiliated organizations.Secure voluntary contributions to support the political work of the organization, screen and recommend endorsement of candidates for local, state and federal office to the Representative Assembly, and develop programs to promote the registration of persons to vote and to support the election of candidates endorsed by the Representative Assembly.
Membership
The Membership Committee shall:

Identify the training needs of the organization’s officers, members of the Representative Assembly, committee members, and staff and develop or locate the resources needed to meet those needs. Assist the Organizational Vice-Presidents in developing programs and activities that shall cause all eligible persons to join and participate in the organization. Identify the work related needs of the membership and develop programs and activities that meet said needs. Conduct activities that promote the social well being of the membership, are attractive to potential members, and promote community among faculty and in the university environment. Supervise and maintain the official list of members and recommend reapportionment to the Representative Assembly before the bi-annual election of Representatives. Identify, implement and administer programs of insurance, purchase, travel, and welfare that are of advantage to the membership.
Finance, Budget, and Audit

The Finance, Budget and Audit Committee shall:

Assist the Executive Board in the preparation of the annual budget and, with the approval of the Executive Board, shall identify and pursue activities to generate revenues for the good and welfare of the organization.

Elections

The Elections Committee shall:

Conduct all general and special elections of the organization and promulgate guidelines consistent with the constitution and by-laws for the conduct of the same.


Committee Contacts


Committees defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement are:

Appeals Board (Section 7.3.4 a.) The appeals board at each MAU is composed of 4 unit members selected through a process defined by United Academics, one of whom is the chair of the board, and 3 University representatives to be determined by the chancellor.

Disciplinary Committee (Section 11.3.2) A standing committee composed of three (3) unit members appointed by United Academics.
(To date, there has been no occasion to convene a Disciplinary Committee.)


Market Committee (Section 15.4.4) A joint Union and University committee consisting of three participacnts from each of the Union and the University, the purpose of which is to determine the distribution of the monies available to bring unity members closer to the national market for their discipline in the negotiiated percentage of the total salary pool.

Health Care Committee
(Section 16.1 e.) A joint labor/management committee composed of 2 members from each of hte unions (total of 6) and 4 members of the administration and staff established to review health benefits and to investigate, study and design possible solutions to rising health care costs and other mutual problems. This committee is chaired by United Academics representative and staff support is provided by United Academics. The committee meets monthyly and has a major focus on the Wellness Program as a means to accomplish its objectives to address rising health costs.
