Committees
A number of committees are defined in the United Academics AAUP/AFT By-Laws (pg 9-11).

Collective Bargaining (Negotiating Team) appointed by the Executive Board, which functions as specified in the By-laws.
Communications
- Designs, produces, and distrributes a regular printed communication to the membership, officers, members of the Repersentative Assembly, and committe chairs.
Legislative Relations
- Is responsible for monitoring government actions that may affect the membership, and secure voluntary contributions to support the political work of the organization.
Membership
- Identifies the training needs of the organization's officers, members of the Repersenative Assembly, committee members, and staff and deevelop or locate the resources needed to meet those needs.
Finance, Budget, and Audit
- Assists the Executive Board in the preparation of the annual budget, and identifies and pursues activites to generate revenues for the good and welfare of the organization.
Elections - Is responsible for conducting all general and special elections which include votes on the ratification of and/ or amendments to contracts, amendments to the constitution, elections of officers and repersentatives and other manners covered in the constituion and by-laws.

Several Committees are defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Appeals Board (Section 7.3.4 a.) The appeals board at each MAU is composed of 3 unit members selected through a process defined by United Academics and 3 University representatives to be determined by the chancellor.

Disciplinary Committee (Section 11.3.2) A standing committee composed of three (3) unit members appointed by United Academics.
  • To date, there has been no occasion to covene a Disciplinary Committee.

    Market Committee (Section 15.4.4) A joint Union and University committee formed to analyze salaries and determine the distribution of the calculated pool. The Union and the University may each select up to three (3) participants to serve on this committee.

    Health Care Committee (Section 16.1 e.) United Academics and the University agree to establish a joint labor/management committee to review health benefits and to investigate, study and design possible solutions to rising health care costs and other mutual problems. This committee shall meet at least quarterly.
